Toothless!

(download)

I guess it had to happen some time.. i've been riding in ernest for 7 years without any major bike related injuries... until yesterday! Yesterday was officially our rest day before climbing the big one, alpe d'huez, today.

However we decided to do a trial run of the first 15k to stretch our legs and get a coffee in Vizille, a small town outside Grenoble. It all went downhill on the main road coming back, in brief, the wind from a truck pushed me into a narrow water channel at the side of the road and my bike went in, flinging me headfirst into the road.

Spent about 6 hours in the hospital, (getting some serious French practice in!) and I've been to the dentist today. Should be ok, I guess I'll see! My travelling companions Joe and Richie have been amazing, spending the whole afternoon at the hospital yesterday and sacrificing today's ride to look after me!

Thanks for everyone's messages of support, they've been much appreciated. Off to a cafe to watch the tour now!
